Amy

Amy Profile

Amy was raised in a home with Christian parents who encouraged church attendance and involvement. At a very young beginning, she heard about the stories of Jesus, Noah, Moses and the heroes of faith. She credits wonderful Sunday school teachers with excellent teaching and godly biblical examples. Another formative organization of her youth was Christian Endeavor. This organization’s purpose is to train young people to serve Christ through the church. Amy was trained through this organization in leadership, and it was at a summer conference with Christian Endeavor that Amy gave her life to Jesus. She had never heard the Good News of what Jesus had done for her in such a clear way. At twelve years of age, her life was directed onto a different path.

The journey in her a relationship with God occurred in stages. As a child, her faith was innocent and open, then- a tragedy rocked her life. When she was 8, Amy’s mom died of cancer. This event caused Amy to walk through a valley to learn trust for most of her adult life. Through precious grandparents, biblical counseling, loving family, friends and her own search through scripture- she has come to trust God her Father in a way that only could have transpired through a true healing of her heart.

Amy’s next stage of her faith walk took her to a deeper level of trust as she got married and opened her heart to another human. Amy and her husband Walter have been married for 24 years. It is a marriage of two imperfect people striving to learn how God has uniquely gifted them and prepared them for each other. Amy has learned many things through her marriage, the most important is- if you keep your heart closed to love, you will never truly receive it. Amy and Walter have 3 beautiful daughters and have been involved with churches and lay ministries throughout their marriage.

The present stage for Amy has been one of the most difficult in her life. The last several years have caused her to search deep and to cling tightly to the truths she has learned over the years. She understands that life is filled with mountain tops and valleys. As her pastor said- “you are either- going into a storm, moving out of a storm, or just entering a storm of life.” Each day brings a different challenge- new revelations, opportunities and grace. As a result of much prayer and a desire to follow the leading of God in her life, Amy has moved into a partnership with Judy to create Kardia Ministries.

  2. Amy, I loved reading these entries. Very helpful as I have been thinking and praying about this as well. I think we are so distracted in everyday things that we forget to just get quiet long enough for God to speak to our hearts:) I am working on this one with God’s help!

    Love to all,
    Melanie

  3. Hello friend,

My what a wonderful site this is. I am currently in a cohort graduate studies program through Fairfax County Public Schools and George Mason University. I am taking two classes in this Spring1 09 session, one of which will have its last day tomorrow. As I travel down this road of life, you are such an inspiration and motivation. I truly adore the gift of friendship that God has given me with you. I will pass on this fantastic webiste to my Christian friends.

God bless you and Judy! I look forward to being part of Kardia Ministries with you. I would like to learn more about taking the time each day to be quiet, prayerful, and to read the bible…..some inspiration and motivation in that area would be indeed helpful to me right now.

    Much love,
    Carolyn

  4. Amy,
Thank you for sharing your heart with transparency. Your honesty opens the door to deeper levels of God’s love. It reaches and encourages us as women struggling on our personal faith journey.

How exciting … this new ministry to women through a blog site! God works in mysterious ways His wonders to perform. Over and over I’m amazed at the creative tools God uses to accomplish His purposes. How natural to use your heart and giftedness in the lives of women through a contemporary means, expanding beyond a single church body and even more fun to do so with a friend.

May God bless you and Judy richly and all those who partake.
    Love,
    Kay
